Interactive buttons in WhatsApp

Three buttons under a message are the fastest way to steer a conversation — and the most predictable, because the customer doesn't have to type anything.

Short answer

Interactive buttons are up to three tappable choices under a WhatsApp message. The customer taps one and your flow continues along the path that belongs to that choice. In Easy Flow Builder you drag the button block onto the canvas, type the labels, and connect each exit to a following block.

When to use buttons

Buttons work best with two or three clear directions: “Request a quote,” “Question about my order,” “Something else.” If you need more options, use a list message — that handles up to ten choices.

  • 20 characters per button label at most, so keep it short and recognizable
  • Put the most-chosen option first
  • Always give a way out, such as “Something else” or “Talk to a person”
  • Combine with conditions to build a different path per choice

Frequently asked questions

How many buttons can I put under one message?

WhatsApp allows a maximum of three interactive buttons per message, with up to twenty characters per label. If you need more choices, use a list message with up to ten options.

Can a button link to a website?

Yes. Alongside reply buttons, WhatsApp supports call-to-action buttons that open a URL or dial a phone number. You can't combine those with reply buttons in the same message.

What happens if someone types something instead of tapping?

Then your flow catches it in the “else” path. You can send the message again, rephrase the question, or hand off to a team member.
